Today’s communication leaders navigate relentless news cycles, constant connectivity, and the lingering effects of post-COVID disengagement. In this climate, emotional intelligence (EI) and mindfulness are no longer “soft skills,” but strategic imperatives. These capabilities not only strengthen resilience and clarity under pressure but also foster a more engaged workplace culture.

Hosted by Fay Chen, associate professor of public relations at the University of Georgia, this roundtable invites senior communicators to explore practical ways to weave emotional intelligence and mindfulness into their daily work, from navigating client/organizational crises to leading teams through change and engaging diverse stakeholders. We’ll discuss questions such as:

  • How can communication leaders ground themselves and their teams in high-stakes moments?
  • What practices can reset focus and empathy during a demanding day?
  • Where might organizational norms unintentionally undermine mindfulness, and how can leaders shift them?

Through candid conversation and peer exchange, participants will step back from the churn to reflect on their own mental state, leadership habits, and opportunities to model presence. Attendees will leave with at least one concrete intention or experiment to bring back to their organizations, helping to create cultures where communication is not only effective, but also human-centered and sustainable.

We welcome CCOs, VPs, and Directors of Communications to request an invitation to join this roundtable discussion.

Upon qualification, you will receive a follow up email from a member of our team confirming your participation.
